About Hackademy
Hackademy builds hands-on simulators for developers: a real-looking terminal onto a pretend system that you deploy, watch fail and fix, before the same thing happens at work. The first is the Kubernetes Simulator, with 54 missions. More simulators are on the way.
Who runs it
Hackademy is a trading name of Mather Software Ltd, a company registered in England and Wales (company number 17443861), registered with the Information Commissioner's Office as ZC256628 (see the privacy policy). Mather Software's other work is at mathersoftware.com.
How the simulation is made
- The cluster is simulated in your browser, so there is nothing to install. It is deterministic: the same commands always produce the same cluster.
- What kubectl prints is copied from a real three-node kind cluster at Kubernetes v1.35.0, and the simulator's tests check its output against those captures. A command it doesn't simulate says so rather than making something up.
- A mission checks the state of the cluster, not your keystrokes, so any fix that works passes. When you pass, your commands are replayed on our server through the same simulator before any XP is paid.
What it costs
Nothing. Hackademy takes no payments. You can play some missions without an account; a free account keeps your stars and XP and opens the rest. Analytics are cookieless and can be switched off on the privacy page. Accounts are for adults, 18 and over (see the terms).
